about

On August 10th, 2012, "Disasteroid!", the first musical by The Bicycats premiered at the Underground Theater in Hollywood, CA. It had a brief two-weekend run, and starred Will McMichael, Natalie Rose, Casey Vandeventer, Matt Jones, Garytt Poirier, Joy Darash, and Zachary Bernstein. The pit band featured Zachary Bernstein, Chris Coon, Nick De Carlo, and Gene Ketcherside. It was directed by Jim Pierce, with book, music, and lyrics by Zachary Bernstein.

BUT NONE OF THAT INFORMATION HAS MUCH TO DO WITH THESE RECORDINGS. Because I, Zachary Bernstein, am inept at writing music charts, these fine actors learned their parts by listening to demo recordings of each of the songs from the show. That's what's being presented here. This is not an original cast recording, but rather the soundtrack to "Disasteroid!" as performed by The Bicycats. In a perfect world, an original cast recording would be available, too, but, well, you know...stuff. Fortunately, a lot of effort was put into these demos to make them sound clean and palatable, so please enjoy the soundtrack demos for "Disasteroid!", look out for a remount some day, and remember, there's something about the creaminess of the milk.

The Bicycats Los Angeles, California

Zachary Bernstein is The Bicycats. Born in Long Island, living in Los Angeles, has fond memories of time spent in Rochester, NY. Mostly influenced by clever bastards like Neil Innes, Margo Guryan, Cole Porter, and Jonathan Richman. There's an old song called, "My Sweet Tooth Says I Wanna (But My Wisdom Tooth Says No)". Tries to make up for the fact that he didn't write that one. ... more
